The network marketing system is a sneaky approach to lead generation. Notice, it has nothing to do with being dishonest. But at the same time, it’s most certainly a sneaky approach to generating leads for your business.
See, on the front end the network marketing system presents things completely differently. It provides value and training for other people’s business. That is how you generate leads. They trade their name and email address for free training on how to grow their own business or make more money.
But that doesn’t sound sneaky, does it? Really, that sounds like a pretty excellent deal. One huge reason why many people fail to make any money with their business is a lack of real training. Knowing the many marketing techniques available is one thing, but knowing how to use them effectively is a whole different tale.
And now we get to the sneaky part. During the process of providing help and training a relationship is formed. They start to look forward to and even rely on your training emails. You are transformed into a leader and an expert in their eyes. You don’t even have to be the one that is making those training videos or courses, as long as you provide a place where they can get them. Each email they receive will have your name on it.
In time, as that relationship grows and develops, trust is born. You are in the perfect place when that starts to happen. This is the place that the network marketing system comes in and presents them with your business. Your leads know you and they trust you, and in many cases they have even come to rely on you. At this point your business is presented as a solution instead of a product. You are not trying to sell something to that person, rather you are simply providing a solution in the form of a business opportunity.
Still doesn’t sound very sneaky, does it? Keep in mind though that what is happening here is psychological in nature. Rather than being a peddler in the marketplace trying to make a buck, you are presenting yourself as a friend and helper. A person might see a commercial a dozen times and never pay attention to it. Yet when a friend says something about the product, how fantastic they reckon it is or what it has done for them, they take notice and consider it.
Imagine that you are looking for someone to fix your car. You are shown three people that can do it for you. But, one of those people come highly recommended by a excellent friend of yours. If you are like most people you will choose the person that comes highly recommended, even without the facts and figures.
In one of his training sessions Mike Dillard said that the simplest way to sell a drill is to teach someone how to make a hole. Nobody starts off thinking that they need a drill. They start with the thought that they need to make a hole. So then your job is to help teach them exactly how to make that hole (and on the sneaky side show them that your drill is the solution to their problem).
