Let’s face it folks,… most people don’t fail because they have a poor internet business thought,… most people fail because they do not have “staying power”…

In other words most people new to the internet business world fail in their business attempts because they run out of money to sustain their business, especially at the critical beginning stages of just starting out…

Believe me, I know, I have been there, done that and I have the T-shirt to prove it.

Most people when they are starting out get so excited about their business product or thought that they have made that they just want to run right out and spend a bunch of money on Pay-Per-Click or other up front expensive advertising methods without a clue how to really get a sustainable Return On Investment (ROI),.. Again, been there, done that also…

Here is what I see time and time again:

- Make an info product or application (digital or shippable)
– Selling price is $67.00
– Do some rudimentary Keyword Research
– Throw up some Pay Per Click (PPC)
– Spend $600 in PPC the first month
– Make a paltry 10 sales for a total of $670 yucky
– have a net profit of $70.00
– Uh oh how do I pay for another $600 in PPC and remain profitable?
– Spend $35 in PPC (50%) of net profit
– Make 0 sales
– Net profit now $35
– Buy a nice steak dinner with that $35.00 and call it quits

OUCH!

So what is missing to help mitigate these situations for the new person just starting out?

There are numerous things that can help overcome the above failure scenario, such as:

- Knowing what is the best type of product to market and what actual market to be in that will have the best chance for success based on your knowledge, passions, interests and personality

- Knowing how to generate laser targeted traffic for pennies on the dollar

- Knowing how to write fantastic ad copy so as to increase your conversion ratio so you get a higher ROI for every visitor you get to your site.

- Knowing how to set up the best automated systems so as to eliminate bottle necks that cause the drain on your top 2 most precious commodities,… TIME and MONEY.

Now all these things are fantastic at increasing “staying power” and your chances for success…

In fact I know how to do most of those things in my own business consistently and even teach it sometimes to others…But the problem is most of those things have a learning curve…Some, like writing fantastic ad copy, has a STEEP learning curve…

So what is the answer?

The answer is,… there is NO “perfect” answer and if anyone says there is they are a liar that needs to be publicly humiliated by pointing and laughing… just kidding.

Seriously with this being said though I reckon most people starting out need to have a perceptual, mental shift in how they are going to go about marketing their product or services…

What do I mean?

I mean…Don’t lead with your main product and always have “back-end” products based on similar markets as your main product that you can up-sell, down-sell or offer your prospects and customers in the future…

This is concept is what I like to call an “Automatic Up-Front Cash Generating Self-Funding Internet Business”.   It’s sometimes referred to as a “Self-Liquidating offer”, “front-end / back-end marketing” and a “Self-Funding promotion”…It sometimes even called an “Attraction Marketing system”…Whatever you call it is all the same basic concept

Let’s say you made an awesome shippable dog training method manual that you researched and can confidently charge at least $200 for.  Now if you don’t have staying power (aka lots of money) and you use the above PPC failure scenario you will be out of business just as quickly, maybe even quicker because it may be harder to sell a product on the first shot for $200 without establishing any kind of relationship or credibility

So what should you do?

Sell a $20 eBook, CD or DVD that gives “some” of the secrets that are contained in your $200 dog training manual.  At this point after they bought your $20 product you now have “primed the pump” and the opportunity to “back-end” your customer into buying your full $200.00 manual….In fact you can build the offer for your “back-end” product right into your “front-end” product in the form of a subtle sales pitch while still offering value and quality

What just happened?  What happened is you sold a $20 product based on your main product which has established a relationship with a “buying customer” and has given you the credibility as an authority on the dog training market to that customer.  That customer will now and always be more opt to buy from you again and again on the “back-end” including your more expensive $200 Dog training manual, as long as you continue to provide value and quality.

What’s more,… is that using this concept 100% of the yucky profits from the $20 “front-end” product will go directly back into the “front-end” advertising to make a truly self-funding business system with pure profit generated on the “back-end”

In this scenario this is where you need to have the “perceptual mental shift” I spoke of…You need to drill it in your head these 2 things:

-Your profit is made on the “back-end”…
-All your advertising is paid for from the “front-end”

Getting clear on these 2 fundamental foundations will have you on your way to making a truly “Automatic Self-Funding Internet Business”

Living The Lifestyle Of Your Dreams?

Are you living your dream lifestyle or did you get sidetracked somewhere along the way? Do you have the time to do everything you want to do? Do you have enough time to spend with your kids, grandkids, family and friends? Time to travel? Time for sporting events, surfing, hiking or whatever is vital to you, whatever makes you truly pleased and fulfilled. If so, do you have the money to delight in those activities?

 

Unfortunately, a few months ago when I questioned myself these questions my answers were NO across the board. I’ve been a restaurant manager for over 30 years and with those crazy hours I missed out on a lot – never with my Mom on Mother’s Day or my kids on Father’s day. I missed a lot of small league games, dance performances, bed times and so on.

 

Now I have grandchildren and I don’t want to have the same regrets with them. My oldest grandson, Brayden, who lives in Las Vegas, was turning two in January and my daughter in law was preparing for their first in March. There was a excellent chance my son would be transferred to Washington soon thereafter. My daughter has been fantastic about visiting, but with my crazy hours I really can’t say I have spent either the quality of quantity of time with them I want to. If my son relocates to Washington, don’t know how I’ll ever find time to see them.

 

Quick forward five months to June – I was terminated. After taking a week to recharge my batteries I went to the Internet to see what was available out there. I knew one thing – I never wanted to work in a restaurant again. I was determined to vastly improve my lifestyle. I started out with MSN jobs. I noticed on every page there was 1-5 work from home ads. After spending a few days looking for my dream job and never finding it, I became curious about these work from home opportunities.

 

I searched online home business opportunities and WOW! Claims of newbies making $19,000 the first month to Moms making $200/day and everything in between. Well, $200/day was not going to replace my previous income so I eliminated that groups as well as the ones that I thought just sounded too excellent to be right. WHAT IS COMMITMENT?

Earlier this year we wrote an article “Resolutions vs. Commitment”. Today we want to talk a bit further about the term Commitment. If you’re not committed to self improvement….you’ll never see your full potential.

For those of you who follow my writings, I like to use the definitions of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, especially for a misunderstood subject such as this. Commitment means different things to different folks. Here is what Wikipedia says:

“Commitment means to show loyalty, duty or pledge to something or someone, and can refer to:

• Personal commitment, interaction dominated by obligations. These obligations may be mutual, or self-imposed, or explicitly stated, or may not. Distinction is often made between commitment as a member of an organization (such as a sporting team, a religion, or as an employee), and a personal commitment, which is often a pledge or promise to ones’ self for personal growth.

• Brand commitment refers to the strength of the relationship between consumers (or customers) and a particular brand (or service).

• Organizational commitment can mean something pledged by an organization as opposed to its members.

• In poker, it means that someone will do better by staying in a hand no matter what (even if he probably doesn’t have the best hand, he would still win more money by betting all his chips), rather than folding”.

Commitment to success of a corporation is imperative, but, commitment is even more vital for an individual. The most vital factor for individual success is commitment. Commitment sparks action….then results will follow. There are two fundamental aspects of commitment we should consider.

The first is having a strong conviction of your beliefs. The ancient saying “If you don’t stand for something…you’ll fall for anything” is so right here. I read recently as one writer said it best…commitment is “persistence with a purpose”.

The second vital factor is the faithful adherence to those beliefs and is represented by your behavior.

One writer place it perfectly….”It is the strength of these commitments, religiously followed, that led to their business success.”

We must be committed to a set of personal values, principles and beliefs. We must have a personal vision and purpose for what we are about to commit to. In our personal life we must have a inherent personal integrity and self confidence. We must have a personal goal for self improvement and follow that goal until we are comfortable with the outcome of our goal.

If we are in business we must remember that “everyone is a customer to someone else.” As a business owner you must keep our customers as the number one priority, because without customers our business is absolutely nothing. You must have a marketable product and stand behind that product or service without reservations. If we have employees in our organization, you must treat them with respect, by challenging them and giving them feedback on a job well done. Many times our employee is the one who are on the frontline having the contact with a potential client. “Commitment is a two-way street. You only get it if you’re willing to give it.”

Being committed and staying committed is no simple task. “Wavering commitment could be considered as no commitment at all”. If you’re really committed and genuine in that commitment it will always stand the test of time. Commitments will change as time goes on. Current goals may have to be revamped or refined. You may have to take some form of risk to make the changes necessary to fulfill your commitments. Be willing to improve your goals and expectations to accomplish the end results. Keep your commitment in your fore front of your heart and mind and the things you always dreamed about will become a reality.

The combination of supporting behavior and improving behavior are the ingredients of right commitment. If these two issues are separated neither will sustain your overall commitment. Commitment is a personal thing that each of us must face everyday. Being committed and staying committed is a mindset that each of us must address in our lives if we want to become a success.
