August 29th, 2009

If a friend comes up to you and offers an online business opportunity would you look at it? Chances are you probably would because you trust them that they are not trying to scam you. Social networking websites such as Twitter and Facebook are excellent places to find legitimate online business opportunities after you have made friends.

Social networking is a phenomenon that is sweeping the internet. One of the first huge social sites was MySpace. It became very well loved for people to hang out and make new friends quite quick. Nowadays, out of the numerous amount of different social networks, the most well loved ones are Twitter and Facebook.

Twitter is one of a kind because of the form of blogging called micro-blogging. You can post updates known as tweets of 140 characters and you are not limited to the number of them you can do every day.

This can be very effective way to find an online business opportunity that is perfect for your needs. After you start getting followers and making friends you will get familiar with these people as more than just a face.

If you want to find a legitimate way to make money on the internet just Tweet asking people to contact you if they are making money online. You’ll find in a day or less that the response will be overwhelming.

Another fantastic social site to make friends and talk with people is Facebook. As you make friends go and look at any website URLs they have in their profile.

Some of these people are making money online and are involved in excellent online businesses. You can research this at your own leisure and it is very well possible that you find one that looks fascinating and appeal to you.

The nice thing is now you can email your friend and question their opinions about the opportunity you are looking at. Chances are you’ll get a review that offers both the negatives and positives and is something you can trust and believe what you are being told.

After you have started your own online business you can use social networking sites also to promote it. There are people just like you who will be looking for ways to make money and some of them will want to join you in the opportunity you have selected.

This makes Twitter and Facebook excellent places to find legitimate online business opportunities. It also makes them fantastic sources for new prospects for your own business and online income.

Social Media Optimization- A Brief History and Rules for Success

August 29th, 2009

Social media optimization is a way for individuals and organizations to generate publicity through social networking tools like Twitter and LinkedIn, online communities like MySpace, and automated tools like TwitterFeed and Ping.fm. The term “social media optimization” was originally coined by SEO consultant extraordinaire, Rohit Bhargava, the senior vice president of Ogilvy 360 Digital Influence and author of the Influential Marketing Blog. (Bhargava’s work was so groundbreaking, Jeremiah Owyang, another social media optimization expert, even dovetailed a few of his own rules to the original work.)

Social media optimization is basically a way to promote your blog, website, or even your company’s brand, through social media, without being obnoxious or overtly commercial. Sure, you can blanket sites like Twitter with “Want to lose weight? Download my free report, ‘19 Ways to Lose Weight Quick’” repeatedly, or brag about your latest affiliate paycheck, but that’s not going to get you any followers. At least none worth talking to.

Bhargava terms these people”Twankers” (people who use Twitter for one-way broadcasts about their own greatness) and “Twidiots” (people who only tweet insignificant things like their latest press release or what they had for breakfast). If you’re just having one-way conversations and telling people about the minor, mundane details of your company, you’re not providing any value, and your SMO efforts will be wasted.

Whether you are an SEO consultant or you are new to social media marketing, there are a few rules you need to follow in order to be effective. Bhargava’s five rules of social media optimization included vital things like increasing your linkability, helping your content travel, and encouraging the mash up. To that, we would add our own four rules.

* Focus on a few networks, not many. Many social media optimization beginners make the mistake of joining as many social networks as they can, and getting a few followers in each. The problem is you’re getting 10 or 20 followers in 10 networks, rather than 400 or 500 in 2 networks. If you take this narrow route, chances are you will attract the same followers in each one.

* Find people in allied fields, not just your own, to improve your social media optimization. Reckon referrals, not customers. If you’re in the financial services industry, don’t just focus on finding people who need to invest. Connect with people who can refer those same people to you, like lawyers, real estate agents, bankers, and anyone else who has clients who will need the financial services you offer.

* Provide real value to others. Telling people how they can earn money while they sleep, or “Lose Weight Quick!!!” is not valuable. Steering people to a recipe site for people who are trying a low-carb diet, or writing a blog post about the top five stout-burning foods is valuable social media optimization. Refer people to helpful websites, even if they’re not your own. And don’t be nervous about asking questions of your own. It makes you look like a real person, and not just a know-it-all.

* Commit to a social media optimization program for the long haul. It’s not enough to just use it a few times and be done with it. This is an ongoing process. You wouldn’t take the time to cultivate a new friend and then never hang out with them, would you? Some of these contacts will become your friends online. Ignore them, and you’ll waste all the effort you place into your social media optimization and developing those relationships. Remember, social media marketing is really about building real relationships, not just broadcasting one-way information. That’s what a TV is for.

By starting a social media optimization program, you’ll accomplish two things: 1) You’ll become a thought leader in your chosen field, and 2) your expertise will lead to more and larger clients or job opportunities.

A Guaranteed Way To Make Money Online At Home

August 28th, 2009

There is a simple and simple way to make money that also involves the largest search engine on the Internet. In this article I want to give the way to take a home based business and guarantee you will make money online

The way that I’m going to guarantee you can make money online at home is with the Google Adsense program. You cannot fail with this program because you never have to sell any products.

Google offers an affiliate program that you can join and start promoting their Adsense program. One quick way to get set up with Google is to start a Blogger.com account and blog online with it.

Google makes it very simple to promote the ads because they give you different sizes and shapes to place directly on your blog. All you do is click and drag them into the spot you want them to be.

You never deal directly with the advertisers because Google sells all of the advertising for you. They are so sophisticated they can match the theme of the web pages you are building with advertisers and instantly show those on your web pages.

Every time somebody clicks on one of those ads you make money. It could be a few cents or could be several dollars per click. Because you really can make money online and do it from the comfort of your own home with Google Adsense makes this very exciting.

The toughest part of this strategy is twofold.

1. You will need to develop content pages for the ads to be on. You can do this through numerous ways including hiring a writer to write articles for you, or writing the content yourself.

So that they can get more ads available for people to click on many successful Internet business owners combine all three of these to develop a large number of pages.

2. Getting traffic to your website or blog where these ads are is the other hard part. There certainly is a skill to developing traffic and it’s something you must spend the majority of your time working on.

You can do social networking, you can buy traffic, you can use free methods such as article marketing, and many other ways to get as much traffic as possible coming to your web pages.

The bottom line is you are guaranteed to make money online with a home based business using Google Adsense. If you get enough people coming to your site a certain percentage of those will click on the ads and you will make money.

You Need To Spend Cash To Succeed In SEO

August 28th, 2009

It may seem incredible to believe but once upon a time in the 90’s the Yahoo directory really did list all the major sites worth visiting.

Today there is in the region of 190 million websites and growing on a day-by-day basis. According to Technorati there is one blog started every second.

The World Wide Web isn’t the 1995 pond any more, but a vast cyber-ocean of millions and millions of websites written in nearly every language known to man.

It is a vast online repository of the excellent, the terrible and the hideous. The excellent being all the websites we all know and like and visit regularly; the terrible being the spam and Made for AdSense (MFA) sites, and the hideous being the nasty child pornography.

Your small website is but a drop in this binary ocean.

Now the advice given out again and again by SEO hubs such as Search Engine Land and SEOmoz that if you follow a certain number of rules about online optimization and if you write quality, original material you will succeed. No you won’t.

Here’s some words of wisdom from opinionated designer Eric Kajaluoto:

“No one is looking at you. No one is listening to you. You don’t believe me but I’m right. Even if you make a portable fountain-of-youth, your start-up’s largest challenge will be to get anyone to pay attention. Really – it is that hard”.

Wow, that paragraph either acted like a sledgehammer on your expectations or it resonated with your experience.

It’s this sort of advice that should be given to all the kids hanging around Digital Point, the largest Search Engine Optimization (SEO) forum on the web. Started in 2004 it has, at the time of writing, nearly 300,000 members and over 11 million posts. Most of those members are young men under the age of 21 and all chasing the pot of gold that they reckon lies over the rainbow.

And now here is the key to being a success on the internet: spending money.

Don’t bother submitting a press release to one of the free services, pay for a premium service that really distributes far and wide for you; don’t bother submitting your site to hundreds of those spam-filled free directories, at the very least pay for inclusion in Yahoo and http://Business.com directories. These are established, quality directories not here-today-gone-tomorrow affairs. And if you site isn’t professionally designed, forget it – first impressions, both on the net and off, count for everything.

More than anything pay money out for a serious PPC ad campaign. Done correctly, this is the difference between success and failure for a new startup.

So pleased amateurs get out of the kitchen if you can’t stand the heat. If you don’t have money in your wallet that you can slap on the table then go over and retire from the game because you are wasting your time and clogging up the pipes.

10 Reasons NOT to Stop Telemarketing During the Summer

August 28th, 2009

The summertime often offers a lull in activities in many businesses across the UK. We presume that since people are away taking their holidays, we should perhaps reduce our telemarketing efforts until the early Autumn. Many people complain that their sales figures or sign-ups are slow during the summer, but of course they’re slower if they reduce their telemarketing campaigning!

But, you should not stop your sales campaigns just because traditionally people holidayed during the summer months. Keep the pressure on and keep the money coming in. Who can afford to have a slow summer this year? Here are our 10 reasons why you shouldn’t stop telemarketing this summer.

Don’t Stop 1: While the Gatekeeper Sleeps

At some point in the summer, the regular gatekeeper, the person that guards the vital prospect from unnecessary distractions to making their company money, will go on holiday.

At this point, someone less well-trained, less experienced and much simpler to sidestep will often be appointed to cover their summer holiday period. It’s at this time, that an experienced and skilled telemarketer can make a break past the inexperienced gatekeeper and get connected to prospects that can take advantage of your summer deals.

Don’t Stop 2: Never Be Forgotten

It’s vital to keep in touch with your prospects throughout the year. If you don’t call during the summer, the chances are that some canny telemarketers from another company will slip unnoticed into your place and make the sale whilst you’re away topping up the tan.

Do not give your prospect the opportunity to forget you. Sometimes it really takes persistent reminders of the benefits and values of your products/services before they will finally cave and go with you. But if you give up during the summer, that alternative telemarketer, the one that isn’t worried to call during the summer, will make the sale instead of you.

Don’t Stop 3: Stand out from the Crowd

BE the stand out, the alternative telemarketer that was mentioned above. So many companies don’t bother to telemarket during summer that they miss valuable opportunities to win business during the summer months. When you call your prospects, the chances are you’ll be one of a very few that know how to turn summer into sales. Stand out from the crowd by calling for a chat during a long summer’s day.

Don’t Stop 4: We Know You’re In There

Not everyone can go away for their summer holidays at the same time. The right people have to be in the office at some point during the summer. If you’re lucky, the right person is at work whilst their secretary or some other gatekeeper is away for their annual trip to Majorca. Your tenacity will benefit you plenty if you can keep making contact without becoming too irritating.

Don’t Stop 5: Set Up for Autumn

If you find that getting the right people to make a choice is hard in the summer, why not set up appointments for the Autumn, or just use the time to build a relationship with the prospect. Setting up more profitable interactions with potential customers and clients later in the year isn’t time wasted; it’s an investment in sales at a later stage. Use the summer months to set up sales in the Autumn.

Don’t Stop 6: Know Your Industry

Each industry works differently when it comes to summer holidays. The better you know your industry, the better you will know when the best time to call will be. Some industries close their factories and offices for periods of time during the summer, so clearly, that’s a black out period for your telemarketers. Don’t waste time calling businesses that are closed for their summer holidays!

Don’t Stop 7: Their Summer is Slack

Let’s face it; some businesses do experience a slower summer. So that means when they’re not taking their vacation, there’s a lot of people sitting around in offices wishing they were somewhere else, or at least that it would stop raining.

If you can call during this time, you can bring a small merriment back to their office. Don’t go straight for the sell, just have a chat, build rapport, work on the relationship, you can always call back during the Autumn if you feel that now’s not the right time to sell them something. But using your experienced telemarketers, you’ll know the difference and use the prospect’s slack summer as an advantage to you.

Don’t Stop 8: People are Ready to Receive

This is the prime time to build rapport with people. Call on a sunny summer morning and you’ll be much more likely to build a relationship with the person at the other end of the phone. People are relaxed, they’re more pleased because of the sun and they feel more positively. Also, because it’s sunny outside, and they’d like to be outside, they’re more likely to consider your phone call a break from their daily routine.

Don’t call in the afternoon, many people leave earlier or start focusing on the 5pm bolt for the door.

Don’t Stop 9: Who Can Afford A Summer Holiday?

You may have noticed that there’s been a catastrophic global economic crisis. Well, who can afford to close down for the summer any more? Get calling, people are much less likely to take long summer breaks this year, most people are broke! This is the perfect time to make someone’s day by telling them precisely how you can make things better for their business.

Don’t Stop 10: Invest in Training

If you really can’t make the dots connect this summer, it is still a fantastic opportunity to train your telemarketing staff. During the slow period, invest in training your staff and then unleash them refreshed and renewed as the Autumn starts.

Here’s Why Paying For Your Traffic Is A Smart Move

August 27th, 2009

There are so many success tales you will hear about businesses making it excellent in the internet. The troubling thing is, there are maybe a tenfold or even a hundredfold of tales contradictory to theirs. Many have unsuccessfully launched a business enterprise that is internet based but only a handful shall succeed.

Is this through luck? That is even more remote. It takes excellent business sense and a lot of help and team effort. Most importantly, it is the eagerness to succeed and the determination to learn and the willingness to invest in a lot of hard work and some money.

The Very Basic

Like Neo, traffic is “The One”. Without traffic, all your effort would just go to waste. Every business needs customers, without them you wouldn’t have anyone to sell your products to. In the internet world traffic is the walk in customer. The more traffic you have the more people would be able to sell your products to.

But like any business that’s in every corner building or in the mall, not everyone that goes in will buy, but the greater of number that do come in to browse your merchandise, the greater number of people that will buy your products. It is a simple and known fact.

But, how do you get traffic, traffic large enough that could make a small percentage of eventual buyers enough to make a excellent profit. Many huge companies generate traffic of tens of thousands a day and a measly ten to fifteen percent really buys, but that small percentage is enough to provide them with excellent business.

Many of these success tales get their traffic from paying others. Yes that’s right; you have to spend money to make money. Advertising is the key. The more people that knows that your site exists; the more people would of course go to your site, that’s common sense.

While there are many ways that can get you advertising for free, this do not generate the same high volume as those methods that are getting paid. These paid advertisements include advertising schemes by Google and Yahoo.

The Value of Searches

The search and will be the simplest and fastest medium in finding what a person needs in the internet. Search engines have been very well loved because they provide a vital service to many people. They are free and simple to use. With this popularity, they get many visitors and clicks that they are the most common sites that people go to. It is simple to know why so many companies would pay to advertise with these search engines.

Search engines provide information to the millions of users that they have each day. They provide links to many sites that a user may be looking for. If your sites link pop up in the high ranks of the search results page, you get a fantastic chance that they will go to your site. While search engine optimization is a cheaper and low cost way to get your site a high rank, paying for advertisements will ensure that you will be on the top ranks.

When you pay for your advertisements, it is like paying for your traffic. This may sound like not such a excellent thought, but the payoffs would tell a different tale. When you pay for your traffic, you are guaranteed of a consistent traffic flow to your site. You will never go with an empty sales day.

Paying for your Traffic

Usually, you will be charged with the number of hits a link gets when your ads is clicked, this is called pay per click. For some search engines, you will be charged with the number of times your ad shows up when a certain keyword or keyword phrase is searched. It is imperative that you have excellent keyword content in your ad. There are many tools that aid you in using the right keyword for the right moment.

All the money you spend in paying for your traffic will not be for naught. You will get an impressive boost in traffic which will also result to a fantastic boost in your sales figures. Paying for your traffic would be a really excellent thought and you will get all the benefits it has to offer.

3 Easy Steps to Start Succeeding With Affiliate Marketing

August 26th, 2009

Affiliate marketing is basically described as an agreement between an online merchant or product seller and an affiliate or publisher. An affiliate gets paid or earns a commission for producing sales, leads or in certain arrangement clicks to a merchant’s website. This arrangement works out fantastic for both parties in that, the merchant gets to advertise his products or services for free to a more widespread market, which will hopefully increase exposure and sales. The merchant’s efforts are place into finding harder working affiliates with excellent exposure, as the more he has the more sales and money he can potentially make.

By gathering quality affiliates, the merchant saves a lot of time, energy and money finding and selling to different markets and customers. Although the merchant does payout a predefined amount to the affiliate, the marketing work is cut down substantially. A side benefit for the merchant is that the extra exposure gained through affiliate marketing can also make more sales by word of mouth and customer recommendations.

From the affiliates standpoint, anyone that clicks on his affiliate link on his website or blog might go on to buy the product or service by the merchant and earn the affiliate a percentage of the sale. The key benefit of being an affiliate is that you don’t need a product so you don’t have to stock inventory, your overhead is very low, you can run your business in your pajamas and best of all, it’s usually free to join affiliate programs.

If you were thinking of starting out on the internet to make some extra cash, then affiliate marketing is the place to start. If you follow these 3 simple tips, you could be well on your way to making your first commission on the internet.

Step 1 – Identify what specific niche you want to promote. It’s best to start with something you know about or are passionate about. The reasoning behind this is, the more interested you are with the niche the simpler it will be to make your marketing material to help you promote the product. When you’re passionate about something you won’t get bored writing about it. Once you get comfortable with a niche you have to fine a product to promote. You can find a ton of products at the most well loved affiliate resources, like ClickBank Marketplace, AssociatePrograms.com, LinkShare.com, CJ.com etc.

Step 2 – Try and find excellent paying merchants and high converting products, most affiliate programs sources will have that information readily available. Make a list of excellent paying and high converting affiliate programs for your chosen niche and make a website or blog. When choosing a product keep in mind that an affiliate program that pays a recurring monthly payout will keep paying you over and over again for the same amount of work it takes to make a one time sale. You must also consider the affiliate support they are giving, including Marketing materials which may include articles, text links, banner ads, classified ads, reports, etc.

Step 3 – Once you have your niche and product ready, it’s time to make your website or blog. Now you can do this with a free blog or even with a Squidoo page for free both work fine but I highly recommend that you get your own domain name with reliable hosting. If you don’t have the experience to build a website you can make a Worpress blog very easily with hosting that has Cpanel and Fantastico. Once that’s in place, you have to start promoting your site, now there’s so many ways in which you can do this but the simplest to start is through forum marketing. Find forum’s in your niche, sign up and make your profile with your website link in your signature file. Participate in the discussions and once people see that you know your stuff they’ll see you as an expert in your niche and follow your link. Use this as your primary methods and keep learning different marketing methods through reading books, courses or other articles online about the best and proven advertising techniques and add them to your forum marketing.

Remember, there is no quick way to success. Affiliate marketing may seem very tempting due to numerous encouraging testimonies of merchants and affiliate marketers who have made a living with it, but it really does require a fantastic deal of hard work and persistence. You also need to be creative and determined to succeed. Most new affiliate marketers don’t know this, so when the sales don’t start straight away, they stop and look for other programs and repeat the same mistake over and over.

Stay focused on your website, niche and product, work at making it bring in some money then optimize it by adding some other means of monetization. Once it’s producing income you can keep evolving it and start another campaign and repeat your steps over again, before you know it you’ll have a nice small income being generated and you’ll be on your way to succeeding in affiliate marketing like the huge boys.
