Writing The Call To Action In Marketing Copy

March 31st, 2009

Too many beginners reckon all they have to do is tell people about their products and services and they will sell themselves. While your products and services may be truly wonderful, most customers or clients need a small push to really make their choice and follow through on making the buy. Maybe they need to be reminded of what they have to gain, or maybe they are just waiting to be questioned for their business. Either way, you need a properly and carefully constructed call to action.

A properly constructed call to action is more than just saying “Buy Now!” or “Click Here!” It will remind the potential client or customer of what they have to gain, so that making the buy choice follows logically and naturally. The client or customer must feel compelled to act, but must not feel manipulated or as if they are being oversold.

And therein lies the problem. Beginning and nonprofessional writers often reckon that throwing in a few standard selling phrases will accomplish the call to action. The truth is that the call to action must be an extension and continuation of the entire marketing piece. If you have not convinced the potential buyer of the value of your product or service before they get to the call to action, it will not work.

It is essential to place yourself in the prospective buyer’s position and know what they need. You must know what criteria they will use to distinguish between different offerings. You must carefully consider what will motivate them to make the buy choice. In marketing, this is often called answering the WIIFM, where WIIFM is shorthand for the phrase, “What’s in it for me?” Only when you know the potential audience you are trying to reach can you write copy that will be meaningful to them and help them know what they have to gain by choosing you.

You must also make the call to action at once compelling and simple for the potential buyer to do. Make it simple for your potential buyer to make a buy by using clearly labeled links, accepting a variety of convenient payment methods, and offering prompt delivery, perhaps even free shipping. If you are providing custom products or services, make it very simple for prospective buyers to get a free quote. Make sure the potential buyer has simple access to any additional information they may need by making contact information clear on your website or other marketing piece, or considering the use of a FAQ on your site. Using time incentives also works well because you want to encourage the buy commitment to be made straight away while your brand is still fresh in the potential buyer’s mind.

An effective marketing piece must be plotted and developed from beginning to end, from the eye and interest catching headline, to the final call to action. To know how these various components work together, and to build a marketing piece that works to the desired inevitable conclusion, e.g. people buy your products and services, you need the services of a professional writing company.

While an individual writer may also be an brilliant choice, when choosing a company you have the added advantage of a variety of experienced writers to choose from, some of whom may have direct experience in your field. They will also have other writers with whom to brainstorm and generate increased creativity.

Choose a professional writer for your call to action, and you will find that more prospects are being converted into buyers. It’s simple, simple, and effective.

What Does SEO Stand For? – Defining SEO

March 31st, 2009

You probably see the term “SEO” just about everywhere you look if you have spent much time on the Internet or reading about all-things-Internet. Many people have come to use the term rather loosely without really having a solid understanding of what it means. If you have ever questioned yourself, “What does SEO stand for?”, the following information can help illuminate the meaning of the term for you.

What SEO Stands For

“SEO” stands for Search Engine Optimization – quite a mouthful of a phrase (and hence the popularity of the acronym). Let’s explore the term “Search Engine Optimization” in order to get a handle on what it means to you and your website.

How Search Engines Work

Most people know what search engines are but are not exactly sure how they work. A search engine is a technology whose functional goal is to make available to searchers of information that information which is most relevant to the search terms they use. The phrase “most relevant” here is key, and this is what separates one search engine from another: how each one determines the relevance and importance of the content they serve up to information searchers can vary widely.

Commonly-known search engine sites are Google and Yahoo!, who together dominate about 90% of all Internet searches today. Search engines are basically made up of three main components. The first is a set of autonomous agents called bots that basically act as virtual librarians, constantly scouring the Internet’s billions of pages and recording what they find. The second component is an indexing engine that stores key information about each page found by the bots during their regular searches. The bots then apply special algorithms to determine how to prioritize or rank these pages when someone performs a search for a given term. The third component is the search site itself where people go to perform a search and then view the results.

Defining “Optimization”

The algorithms mentioned above are really the “special sauce” for any given search engine. There is no pre-ordained way to rank content based upon relevance, so search engine companies are always competing to come up with better algorithms that allow them to better classify and rank the content found by their bots. This is where optimization comes in: by optimizing your site for certain search terms or keywords, you are basically slanting the odds in your favor that your site will come up higher than do websites competing for traffic from the same search terms.

Vital footnote: Search Engine Optimization refers only to efforts to improve the natural or organic ranking of your site; it does not refer to the practice of paying to drive traffic to your site, which is known instead as Search Engine Marketing, or SEM.

What SEO Means to You

SEO is both an art and a science. It is a science because so many of the elements that make up a search engine optimization campaign can be quantified and analyzed numerically. That’s the wonderful thing about the Internet: online activity is eminently measurable. On the other hand, it is an art because there is no one, single formula for achieving strong rankings. Rather, someone engaging in this practice must take a savvy approach, combining common-sense tactics with their own creativity in order to compete with other sites for the best possible rankings.

In general, SEO involves a combination of two things. First, you must optimize your website itself by paying attention to the visible content, invisible content (meta tags), site structure, formatting and other items. Second, you must work to build as many backlinks from other relevant, high-profile websites as possible. Search engine indexing agents take all of this into account when determining how to rank your site for a give search.

How vital is ranking well for relevant search terms? Well, it can literally translate to money in your pocket if your website represents a business or is an e-commerce site offering online transactions. A smart SEO strategy starts with an SEO Audit: a thorough analysis of your website to analyze key elements such as: for which keywords is your site currently optimized? Are there issues with the programming code or structure of your site that could impede search bots from reviewing your site?, and What is the quantity and quality of backlinks to your site?

Start any SEO campaign an audit to make sure you are embarking on your journey well-equipped and that you are headed off in the right direction.

Internet Marketing – Effective Affiliate Bonuses

March 30th, 2009

The affiliate marketing area, especially for the huge launches, is extremely competitive. Often offfering a bonus to people who buy from you will clinch the deal in your favor. Here are some tips for better conversions:

Avoid cheap stuff

You may be able to find a couple of ebooks that you can buy cheaply with mass-resale or distribution rights, but there is a reason that these ebooks are cheap: they are of low quality. Well though out, quality eBooks take time to make, and their authors will charge accordingly.

To find a writer to make an ebook for you as as bonus offer, you can post your project to a freelance site, like elance.com and see what bids come in. These writers will provide samples of their work so that you can choose one suitable to the project. It may cost more upfront, but your customers will appreciate it and be more likely to buy from you in the future.

Offer training

If the product you are selling requires a learning curve (like computer software), then an effective bonus is to offer a training incentive. This could include an instructional ebook (either write it yourself, or find a freelance writer as described above), online support forums, or critiques of people?s work.

For example, let?s say the product is a step-by-step guide to getting started with affiliate marketing. Well, you probably have more experience in that field than the person buying the book, so offer to look over the websites and offers they make, and then give them feedback. If you do a excellent job and they make some money, then they’ll probably be interested if you offer them a product about intermediate or advanced affiliate marketing skills.

Keep in contact

One downside to internet sales over person-to-person sales is that customers may feel disconnected from the person they are buying from. When you buy a TV at a store and something goes incorrect, you can go back to that store and get some answers, and that is very reassuring to most customers.

If you make yourself available, either via an email list, support forum, or some other means, then customers will see you as a person, and not just a website. The personal touch in the internet?s impersonal world can be the key factor in getting you sales.

Get More Comments On Your WordPress Blog

March 30th, 2009

It is unfortunate that a fantastic percentage of bloggers don’t set up their WordPress blog properly to accept comments. Comments are very vital to the success of your blog, so take the time to do it right.

The most frustrating aspect of this issue is that when you have taken several minutes to make, what you reckon, is a fantastic comment, only to find out your comment isn’t accepted. Everyone loses: The blog owner is cheated out of a valuable comment. Comments are incredibly significant to your blog’s success.

An example:

I have a particular problem with a plug-in that says “How are you at math?” This plugin is frequently setup incorrect.

You are supposed to add two numbers together and place that number in the box. You dutifully enter the answer in the box only to find that it blows up and says “You must have failed math!” That “blow up” will have you speaking in foreign languages as your rage takes control of you. (I have started highlighting whatever I write in the post and I hit control- c to copy it. That way, if it fails to take my comment, I have another chance at it. )

What went incorrect?

Usually, the blog owner has committed some errors in the set up. Because there are so many check boxes, it is simple to make a mistake. Here is one suggested way to set up your blog in WordPress. I am currently using version 2.5 of WordPress, but these settings are not specific to this version. It should work with every relatively current version.

Here’s how: While logged into your WordPress blog, go to settings:

* Anyone Can Register – check the box
* Users must be registered and logged in to comment – DO NOT check the box
* New user default – choose “contributor”

You are not done yet: Go to Settings, Discussion: Email me whenever anyone:

* Posts a comment – check the box
* A comment is held for moderation – check the box – A very vital box to check

Before a comment appears:

* An administrator must always approve a comment – check the box – Also, very vital
* Comment author must fill out name and email – check the box

Let’s clarify these in order:

Anyone can register: You want to check this box because you want it to be simple for people to comment on your articles, don’t you? There is no excellent reason to restrict who can register…remember, you will be able to moderate the comment before it is shown.

Users must be registered and logged in to comment: You don’t want to check this box because unless you are running a membership site or some other exclusive site, you wouldn’t want to place a comment creator to such effort. Don’t do it.

New user default: Here is where you CAN get into some real distress! I know, first hand, what can happen here. I had chosen the new default user to be “Author”, not “Contributor”. I wanted it to be simple for people to comment on my work. I also, like many bloggers, was naive and I let them post without my moderation first.

This worked fine for about a year or so until one day I visited my insurance blog to find some of the most disgusting, pornographic pictures I have seen. What a way to make a fantastic impression on your readers. I don’t have any thought how many hundreds of people must have seen those pictures.

It was fascinating how they accomplished it. Robots were employed to find blogs that were susceptible to placing comments. They register as a user without posting anything at all. . .a week later or so, then you get the “motherlode” of porn.

I went in and deleted the “comments” and banned those spammers from ever “contributing” to my blog again. Make sure you change the new default user to contributor – not author. Read farther to see what else I had to do.

Email me whenever anyone posts a comment. I want to know if I have received a comment. If it is a excellent comment, I want to approve it immediately. If it is trash, I want to know, too.

Another reason for wanting to be emailed is so that you can click on their comment and it will take you to their website from within WordPress.

I make every effort to return the favor of a comment to anyone who comments on my work. That is a excellent habit to follow. You will make some quick friends and get people posting more comments. In a sense, you are building a community.

Before a comment appears an administrator must always approve a comment. This may be the most vital control you have. The spammers have stayed away from my blog since they cannot get their trash published.

By the way, you can set up a blacklist in that same area where you ban certain words, urls, email address, IP addresses and the lot. You must TEST your settings

Yes, I know, you reckon that you did it right. But did you? The best way to test it is to have a friend visit your blog and question them to make a comment. If they can enter a comment, not being an administrator or logged in, then anyone can do it.

I am working on a Camtasia video to help you see how these settings are changed. The video is the best way to learn this detailed information, but some people just need to see it written down.

What tales do you have? Did you get spammed? Did you know the significance of the settings you chose? Let me know your thoughts.

Is There A Secret Of Making Money On The Internet?

March 29th, 2009

How many times have you longed to find out the secret to making money on the Internet. The word secret is a powerful word in the English language because knowing something your competitor doesn’t know will give you a certain edge and help you progress quicker. So here is the secret to making money on the Internet.

The secret of making money on the Internet, if I were to try to summarize in only two words would be “make offers”. These two words summarize exactly what it takes to make money on the Internet today.

You must give people a chance to buy from you if you are ever going to make a sale. Without selling something you will never make any money on the Internet. Granted there are many ways to make money on the Internet in addition to just to selling things.

Getting paid by the click, getting paid for selling leads, and getting paid for selling products or services online are three of the most common ways that people make money on the Internet today. Today selling advertising on a high traffic blog is a well loved way to make money.

Yet the advertiser will never buy something from you unless they know you are willing to sell to them. You would make, in this case, and advertise with us a web page explaining exactly how a business could buy an ad on your blog.

Another well loved way is getting paid selling leads. This could be something as simple as providing a lead to take surveys online and money from that. Something more complicated would be the selling leads to a mortgage refinance specialist who is looking for prospects who want to refinance their home.

Google made it extremely possible to get paid by the click when they introduced their Google Adsense program. When a visitor lands on your website that has a Google Adsense ad on it you make money when they click on one of the ads

Ultimately making offers comes down to getting traffic and a lot of it. This is even more vital than the quality of the website or blog you have. You increase your odds of selling something on the Internet just because you have increased the traffic to you website.

In summary the secret of making money on the Internet comes down to getting traffic to your webpage and converting some of that in the form of a sale by making offers.

Make Money Online by Writing Articles

March 29th, 2009

The internet is now becoming a very well loved method to earn a decent income. People all over the world are using the internet to sell information products and make a lot of money doing so. All they have to do once their product is made is to promote it and gain traffic.

You will have to learn how to market your website effectively to drive traffic to your website. The smartest thing to do would be to attract visitors who are looking to buy the product you are selling.

Bringing in massive amounts of laser targeted traffic is the key to running a successful internet business. If you do not learn how to promote your online business, you will not have a business in the near future. There are many different ways to do this that cost small or no money.

Some people believe that marketing online is honestly simple, and it is for the most part. What I suggest is to find one method of marketing that you are very excellent at and to use that method over and over again. You can always learn how to promote your online business other ways some other time. But if what you are doing is working, stick with it!

Article marketing may be the very best way to market your online business. There are many article directories online that you can submit your articles to for free. Most of these article directories allow you to leave a link back to your website in the authors resource box. Your website will go up in rankings in the search engines as you pick up more and more back links.

With article marketing you will get traffic two fold, through the articles themselves and through the search engines. The key to making your article marketing campaign work is consistency. Don’t over do it and don’t under do it. Some people submit 2 articles a week and some submit up to a handful or more per day. It comes down to the number of competitors in your specific niche.

Instead of submitting one article to every article directory, submit a unique article to each. Submit the bulk of your articles to the top directories and submit to them often.

You may want to consider using an article distribution service as well. These services usually require a monthly fee but is well worth the cost if you can afford it. I personally use an article distribution service and I submit articles manually. I find that a comprehensive approach to distributing the articles works best.

After a few months of writing and submitting articles you will then see the targeted traffic start to show. Keep up the article marketing and you will soon see the sales along with the traffic.

Where Is The Future Of Internet Affiliate Marketing?

March 28th, 2009

Making money on the Internet with affiliate programs continues to be very profitable for thousands of people around the world. If you want to make money as an affiliate marketer, here are three can’t miss trends with Internet affiliate programs at this time.

1. Blogging with Google Adsense as an income stream. Search engines like blogs and Google even owns Blogger.com. What has become very simple to do is make a blog around something that you have an interest in, and then add Google Adsense ads to it.

You spend the majority of your time concentrating on adding valuable content to your blog on a regular basis. Over time you will develop a core group of readers who will follow your blog updates.

AS visitors to your webpage click on Google’s ads, you generate an income for yourself and helps build your income seperately from your affiliate programs.

By working around your blog’s content, you can really delight in yourself, not having to concern yourself too much with really selling anything. Google Adsense makes this possible to do.

2. Video marketing with affiliate links added to the video. Google owns You Tube, and they are putting a premium on websites and blogs that add video to them. This presents an opportunity to rank high with Google when you add videos to your site.

You have the chance to place your affiliate link or website into the video, letting you benefit from the power of the video to promote your business and affiliate programs. As people are watching the video, they will also see the URLs you have added, which can drive traffic to your site.

3. Selling digital information will continue to be a very profitable way to make money. This is especially right when you sell digital products that contain information that solve problems.

The number one reason people use the Internet today is to send email. The number two reason they use the Internet is to search for information.

Many people have problems and questions that they need answers to. This gives you an opportunity to sell your affiliate products, by selling information products that address these questions.

You can make your own products and sell them yourself. An alternative is to join Clickbank, which offers a nice affiliate program.com, and have access to thousands of digital products to sell.

So these are three can’t miss trends in Internet affiliate programs at this time. Affiliate marketing will continue to pay out millions of dollars in commissions, and you may as well get your share.

How to Write Articles: Using Article Marketing to Make Money

March 28th, 2009

If you know how to write articles properly, then you can make money by using article marketing as a very effective online advertising technique. Not only does Google like article content, whether published in article directories or on your own website, but visitors also like to read about the topics that interest them, particularly if you write well and to the point.

It is beyond the scope of this article to teach you how to write articles properly since I cannot condense the contents of a 100+ page book on the subject into a few hundred words, but here are some tips on how to write in a manner that is rewarded by the search engines and keeps readers interested in what you have to say.

Use a Title that Attracts Attention

Your title should reflect the content of the article, and persuade anyone seeking the information you are providing to read it. The title used for this article clarifies exactly what I am doing now, and if you really want to learn how to write articles and use them to advertise your website or products, then you will be likely to have started reading.

For search engine purposes, do some keyword research and choose a keyword that has a excellent demand, but not too high a supply or you will have too much competition. Choose another that supports the first: this can be more competitive, such as the term ‘article marketing’ that I have used here. Use the better keyword at the start and the more competitive one at the end of the title. Selecting the right keywords is an vital part of learning how to write articles.

The Opening Paragraph

This will either chase the reader away or keep them on the page. If they reach past the opening paragraph, they will likely read the article to the end, assuming it is not too long. Around 500 – 900 words are best for an article, and no more than 80 for the opening paragraph.

Use this paragraph to state the purpose and content of the article, and to stress any benefits the reader will receive by reading it, such as “you can make money by using article marketing. . .” Use the keywords in the first 100 characters of your opening paragraph, including spaces. The search engines regard these as the most vital characters in your article. After that, the final paragraph is the next most vital since many search engines check that to ensure you are maintaining relevance.

The Article Body

Write your articles in small paragraphs of 1 – 3 sentences. People like their information in bite-sized pieces, and easily get bored with long rambling sentences and paragraphs. Be small and to the point, and never stray from the topic. Do not over-use keywords, but use semantically related text to expand on the topic and make the meaning of the article unambiguously clear to search engine algorithms.

Search engines calculate relevance to a topic by means of mathematical equations known as algorithms, and use pre-programmed vocabulary rules to determine that, not just the keywords you use. Excessive use of your keywords will be punished by your article not being listed. When writing articles, you must keep completely on topic, and not digress to other subjects.

The Final Paragraph

The final paragraph should sum up the article, and also contain one incidence of each of the keywords used in the title. Two or three sentences are sufficient.

The Author’s Resource

If your article is for submission to article directories, you are permitted to include a few words about yourself or your website. Some directories offer a separate box for this while others allow you to add it after the final paragraph. Use the resource wisely, including a link to your website and also the product name if you have one.

Make sure that the link is to a page on your website related to the topic of the article. In this article, my resource leads to a page on my site offering a free gift and free course on writing articles and article marketing, whereby readers can expand on what they have learned by reading this.

These are the very basics of how to write articles for publication or website content. Article marketing is an extremely useful advertising technique to use online, and offers several routes by which visitors can find a way to your website. By becoming proficient in writing articles and how to use them properly, you have a marvellous free tool at your disposal that can be much more profitable than pay-per-click or any other form of paid advertising.
